Local Youths Make Memories at Putting with Police Event Hosted by First Tee – Greater Akron
AKRON, Ohio (June 13, 2024) – First Tee – Greater Akron, in partnership with presenting sponsor Kaulig Giving and the Akron Community Foundation hosted its 7th Annual Law Enforcement Education Day – Putting with Police on Thursday, June 13 at Mud Run Golf Course & Driving Range. The goal of this event is to create positive, fun, and educational interactions between local youth and law enforcement personnel.
Over 200 local kids/teens attended Putting with Police this year, which surpassed last year’s recording-breaking year. Thank you to our community partners: City of Akron Recreation & Parks Summer Camps, Emmanual Christian Academy, Akron Youth Mentorship, Shelter Care, Red Oak Behavioral Health, and Childtime on Manchester for bringing children to the event. The kids and law enforcement were treated to golf games, golf cart rides, a dunk tank, the Cleveland Monsters/Cleveland Charge mascots, Kona ice and slices of pizza donated by LeeAngelo’s.
Thirteen (13) local agencies attended: Akron Children’s PD, Akron PD, Akron Fire, Bath PD, Copley PD, Cuyahoga Falls PD, Hudson PD, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Springfield PD, Stow PD, Summa Health PD, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and University of Akron PD.
Special thanks to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, City of Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and County of Summit Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich for attending.
