Families Take to the Course at First Tee – Greater Akron’s Fall Family Scramble Presented by Acme Fresh Market
Held at Mud Run Golf Course and Driving Range on Sunday, August 30, the event brought together 66 golfers for a fun-filled afternoon of competition, connection, and learning. The two-person, nine-hole scramble paired one First Tee participant with a family member, giving participants the opportunity to experience the game in a new way while enjoying time on the course with someone they love.
With 33 family pairings taking to the course, the Fall Family Scramble offered participants valuable real-course experience while encouraging them to put the skills they have developed through First Tee into action. From navigating each hole to making decisions and working together as a team, participants experienced firsthand how the lessons learned through golf extend beyond the practice area.
To make the competition fun and age-appropriate, students competed in four age brackets: ages 7–9, 10–11, 12–13, and 14+. Each team had the opportunity to compete for the top score in its division while, most importantly, creating memories together on the course.
At the end of the nine holes, four teams emerged as division champions:

- Ages 12–13: Team Rowles — 34
- Ages 14+: Team Tollis — 35
While the leaderboard provided plenty of excitement, the true highlight of the Fall Family Scramble was seeing First Tee students share the course with their families. Events like this give young golfers the chance to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and experience the joy of the game together.
